this never happened

Things I need to be doing not in order of necessity;
inventory of my collection
hard copies of itimized collection
binder to show the conservatory
pics of stuff to try to sell
throw out stuff no one will want and are unwearable
buy 5 lb of dark chocolate covered rains
and maybe banana chips

sewing collars on is really fucking hard, I spend my 8 hour shift working on and off getting the collar back onto a vintage komon I bought probably like 5 years ago, took apart, fixed up and stitched holes up, partially reassembled... and left laying there for years because I wanted to avoid putting the collar and lining back in. I did a terrible job but I'm not sure I can bear to try again....

Cemetery in the snow

We finally had a chance to get over into the cemetery before the snow melted/was trampled completely AND the place was actually open. Even better, they'd plowed most of the roads. Unfortunately I failed to check my obi, and Kelsey was so engrossed in learning about adjusting the F-stop number and flat out didn't notice that the musubi was a huge mess. Between that and my chronic inability to make a normal face... we didn't get many usable pics.
Best part was noticing that there was a Zimmerman grave across from a McCoy grave. Ahahaha. Star Trek.

Highball halloween

Went to the Highball Halloween event in the short north here in Cbus. We'd gone previously something like 4 years ago; it was quite a bit colder than it was this year and we froze. Dressed all wrong, no haori, heeled boots... what a miserable night, not to mention how crowded it was. This year was cold and it sprinkled the whole time and it was windy (ie. the east coast at the moment, thanks Sandy) but I was atleast better prepared this time, and the event was much better managed than before.

Me and 'DJ Lance'.
Wearing; Tights, knee highs, 2 piece juban, juban, some tsukesage looking awase kimono (ahead of season, but fits nicely), fukuro, round obijime, shibori obiage, flats, and a long synthetic haori, for all the beer spilled on me by the countless (but over all rather friendly) drunks.
In terms of comfort, this was the best outfit I've ever worn; never shivered from cold, didn't sweat from over heating. I think it's a first. For future cold weather trips, I'd want long gloves and a scarf though, and look for cute/warm/comfortable boots.

I feel like I might be coming down with something.

Fabric shopping!

Found this cute fabric in the xmas cottons at joann fabrics; very tempted to use for a juban skirt/sleeve set. Instead went for some PINK fleecy fabric with asanoha pattern for a cold weather juban set, even though I went in looking for something thin and moving. Eh. 50% sales. Might go back for the shippou and thin stuff later. Still need white cotton base pieces. Gotta make my flat mate a fitting juban, since I'm steeling her actual juban.

SUMMER WEIGHT FEELS

I have strangely strong feelings about the color of summer wafuku.
I don't like dark summer wear. I can't explain it. I just hate it. Is this a phase? My indigo yukata... they twist my soul. The cotton is way too thick to be at all comfortable in the summer, but 2/3 of them are hydrangea.
What I need is a light colored yukata with my beloved hydrangea.

Won an amazing meisen haori today; so very pleased.

Peak...

Since the color isn't going to be important, I'll spare folks the awful color combo I used. It's all about the black gray white and TEXTURE! And light.
Pleased with how quickly I dressed my less than ideal kimono figured model. 4 out fits and pictures in less than 2 hours. Huge mess in the living room now though.
We'll see how GIMP's gray scale tool compares to actual black and white photography.
Also, surprise. Even though it's in manual mode, my camera suprised me with a step higher apperture option in the sunlight than what it was giving me last week indoors. Manual means manual, not 'I don't feel like giving you all the options'.

Film photography

Why do I always forget about this blog....

Waiting for my sister to finish eating so I can force her into a series of kimono. Trying to get 6+ shots of the obi area for my black and white film photography class. She's being especially difficult.
